About the Teacher
Tristan began meditation practice at the age of 14 years old. He was taught the practice of yoga asana in 1985 at school when he was 16 years old. At the age of 19 he travelled to the Himalayas to live in a Mahayana Buddhist monastery where he was trained as a monk. This was really his first introduction to the higher teachings and to the spiritual life. He had his first awakening experience a year later, after a meditation retreat in a Buddhist cave monastery in Thailand. He experienced the awakening of kundalini the following year, in 1991. He was first taught mantra meditation in an ashram in India when he was 26 years old.
Over the next 19 years he continued to study meditation and yoga and travelled to Nepal, Sri Lanka and especially India as often as possible. He continued to study and practice in various ashrams and monasteries.
He discovered the practice of Samyama in 1993, around the age of 23 and has practiced ever since.
He now teaches yoga internationally, specializing in the teaching of meditation, pranayama, Samyama, and the philosophy of yoga.
About the Course
Samyama is one of the rarer practices in yoga, but probably the most powerful. The practice works by releasing feelings into silence and allowing them to become naturally amplified or dissolved. The amplified feelings then vibrate throughout the subtle body, purifying it and producing various qualities and siddhis that aid the practitioner on the path of liberation.
The third chapter of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali is dedicated to the practice of Samyama. Despite this being one of the most famous Sanskrit texts on the practice of yoga, dating back around 1,500 years, very few practitioners these days are aware of this practice, or of how to use it as an aid on the spiritual path.
Instructions on the Basic Practice of Samyama
This course includes teaching on how to practice Samyama, with a powerful practice that can be done for ten minutes, twice each day immediately after meditation.
Managing the Various Levels of Siddhis (Psychic Powers)
The course includes discussion on what to do if psychic powers (siddhis) begin to become manifest and on how to relate to them in a way that will not hold you back on the spiritual path.
Advanced Samyama Practice
The course includes discussion on various advanced aspects of samyama practice that we can add on to the basic practice as we evolve and progress over time.
Samyama Spilling Over into Daily Life
One of the most powerful aspects of Samyama is that at some point it will begin to spill-over into your daily life. At this stage life becomes a continuous process of divine flow happening within stillness. The course includes discussion on this aspect of the practice and how to work with this stage of the path.
Cosmic Samyama Practice
Cosmic Samyama is an advanced practice that we can add to our daily routine if we wish to. It has added purificatory effects beyond basic Samyama practice. The practice combines the use of chakras and sutras.
Experienced Teacher
Tristan first began the practice of meditation around 42 years ago. He began the practice of Samyama around 32 years ago. He has been teaching both practices internationally for around 15 years.
